So I was sitting at Kyle's house on Friday [shawns friend] 
before going to the guys' band practice... his mom says something about Binghamton.
So I get up and look..

41 hostages at the american civic association.
what the fuck.
its on local news so im like 'well hopefully thisll get taken care of'
go up to teddy's house for band practice.. switch it to cnn to see whats going on there.
the American Civic Assoc. is on the main screen.

WHAT. THE FUCK.
binghamton hostage shooting thing eeeverywhere.
i flip out. 4 people shot, gunman still there.
binghamton swat team, cops, troopers, everywhere.

we sit and watch, me in horror considering i drive down that street to get to my internship all the time,
and ive been in that building numerous times, including getting my passport picture taken.
now they say 4 people dead, 12 wounded.
i call my fam to see where they are, and texted some friends.

sit and watch, wait..
12 people killed, more wounded.
not in binghamton.. the place with a pretty low crime rate. this isnt how we were supposed to be seen.
school on lockdown, nursing home too.. businesses and homes evacuated.
13 people killed.
joanna is at clinical at wilson .. they send people to wilson.
poor girl had to xray 2 of the victims that i know of.
still in critical condition.

all in all.. 14 people died. many wounded..
and binghamton was all over
cnn, hln, the newspapers, yahoo, perez hilton [!?]

biden, obama, everyone made comments.
sure, biden is from scranton so i expected it.. he knows how binghamton is.
so he really showed gratitude.

we're a small city that comes together.
we have a tight knit downtown with a booming art franchise.
first friday was supposed to be that night.

i still am in shock. none of us wanted binghamton to be under the same category as columbine, virginia tech, and everywhere else.
now we are.

im almost too scared to drive by it tuesday, my birthday, to get downtown.
i dont want to see it. i dont want to think of it.
 

okay.. today's my dad's birthday.

ive been living out of my car for the past who knows how long..
went to syracuse to see new kids on the block [!!] thursday, albany saturday and sunday.. stayed in cortland until yesterday..
had class.. will be here today and tomorrow running around..
then back up to cortland friday until tuesday afternoon..

speaking of tuesday..
it's my 23rd birthday that day. weird.
i feel so old now.. like birthdays arent a big deal like how they used to be.
my boyfriend has to work until 1230am, i have class, and blah blah blah.
i guess it'll just be a sort of normal day that includes massive amounts of alcoholic beverages.
too bad some of my friends cant come around for my bday up here, like my friends in VA who i never ever see.

going to rochester saturday.. bf's band has a show.
thought it'd be a fun little birthday thing to do.
hopefully it's nice out.. i remember when it snowed on my bday.. ugh.

So I went to the Phelps Mansion Museum on Friday for a little thing for my Exhibition Planning class.
Amazing house, total Vanderbuilt in my town.
It has recently been officially named a Museum in the state of NY too, so it's awesome.
Well.. I talk to my professor afterwards, I call her the art greek mother  - who sets us up with everything..
About internships at this other museum in the area.
she goes 'you know this place has internships too'
and throws me at the main lady, Toby Manker.

that's right. It's official,
I am an intern at the Phelps Mansion Museum.
and guess what I do!?
it's nuts.

I catalog artifacts in there.. including clothing, photography, and books whatnot.
I get to do TOURS.
yes! finally! finally something towards the career i want!
i will be doing tours there and i have the freaking binder of info i need to learn at home... ive been reading it nonstop..
so much info.. down to where the fucking vases of flowers are and why they're there and what country they came from. no. im not kidding.
i get to help restore things!
and do events! like im trying to convince them to do a USO ball soon.. since people younger will wanna dress up all 1940s.
so excited! :D
 

some new bands, and I'm quite proud.
It's taken me a long time to actually update my iPod since Shawn and I broke up.

Oh, speaking of which. He apparently wants me back really bad,
and regrets what he did to me and blah blah. so we're hanging out again.
I told him it would take a lot of work to get me to really start dating him again, because of what he did.
I'm getting spoiled. This is awesome.

so my consultation date and surgery are set. i cut bangs. dyed my hair black again.
i asked a guy from work out to a super bowl party! i'm so proud of myself considering i keep jumping back to matt, and that's badbadbad.
shawn [my most recent ex] just tried to add me on myspace, and i about laughed my ass off. hilar. i dont wanna be friends with you, buddy. and you're a two pump chump. it sucked D:

the end of 2008 really, 
isn't that bad.

i realize how worthless some people are,
and how much of a waste of time they are.
disrespect, lying, deceit. fun times.

but at the same time,
i have my friends back.
i'm going through something totally different within the past week.
i made new friends, talked with old ones.. and it feels really nice.
i feel more welcome where i live now, because i'm actually there.

well.. not right now, i'm in virginia until tuesday now.
tomorrow is dc since we couldn't go saturday.
but talking to a dear friend of mine, who i haven't talked to in a while,
in respect to my ex,
i can really speak to again.. and it feels really good.

i also have consultations for plastic surgery.
i've decided that getting a lap band around my stomach is something i want to do.
it's covered by my insurance, hopefully entirely.
i'll have a consultation soon.
i'm doing it for no one but myself. i'll be fully happy again.
i'm a little scared to go in, and see my body get all the marker on it,
like on Dr. 90210.. haha
but i feel ready for it, and my mom is going to help me.
Big step.


I met a new friend named Sarah, too [:
she's seriously a fate-mate.
she does so much random shit that i do, it's hilarious.
and to my VA friends, she lives in pulaski.
but pulaski new york, you say it pull-ass-sky. not skee.

So for christmas so far [because yes, i get a million presents early]
I've received: a new bed, bed frame, tv stand, 20 inch tv, rrandom little stocking stuffers like a new calendar, a tokidoki purse, art prints, 20 dollars to target, a beatles fleece blanket, i think that's it?

oh and apparently it's supposed to snow in new york on christmas eve.
i think that's the first time in about 10 years.

 

 

it's that time of year, finals time.
usually it's one week, for me, it's two.. awesome.
so thursday i took two art history finals, one right after the other.
should i tell you how i'm DYING?
I keep looking at the school website to check to see if those two grades have been posted yet.

I saw Twilight at midnight opening night.
Oh dear god. I loved it. I went in with an open mind - knowing it wouldn't be exactly like the book.
It was lower budget than Harry Potter, and those don't even go to the book half of the time.
Robert Pattinson? New love. Edward Cullen? New soulmate.
Can't wait for New Moon in 2010.

Ive been with the Boyf for 2 months now today,
weird, huh? It feels like sososo much longer.. How is it only 2 months?
Needless to say, I heart waking up next to him each weekend,
and this week.. I'll be up there tomorrow until Sunday more than likely. Nice little change.

Joanna's birthday on Wednesday.. good 'ol 25. Quarter life crisis?
Thanksgiving on thursday.. to eat n eat n eat.
I wish it was December 20th now, so I could be in Washington DC with Shawn, Joanna, and Shane.. walking through the different christmas trees and whatnot. Havin' some hot cocoa, or in my case, probably a peppermint mocha.
Seeing the snow fall makes it feel like christmastime, when it hasn't even been thanksgiving yet.

Well.. the one thing I love on Halloween..
I get to wear my Nightmare on Elm Street Tee.. still doing that.
Going to US History,
then driving up to Syracuse to see Brian in the hospital,
because poor guy totaled his car the other day,
crushed his foot [no lie.. broke about 100 bones in his foot]
so he'll be getting surgery.

Magan [brian's girlfriend], Shawn [the boyf] and I will then trek down to Binghamton,
give candy to the non-existant trick or treaters until about 8
then driving BACK up to cortland for the weekend.

i had my costume all planned,
too bad bad luck runs a muck around good 'ol upstate new york.
